Event Description
- Structured investigation inside the castle’s dungeon and torture chamber on Premium & VIP tiers — EMF & temperature sweeps, EVP/spirit-box sessions, a table-tipping séance in the Great Hall, trigger-object experiments, a dowsing-rod walk in the courtyard, and an optional supervised lone vigil.
- No-touch and guide-supervised throughout — every activity is optional, nothing is staged, and no outcome is ever promised.
- Investigation tiers (Premium/VIP) are strictly 18+; Twilight/Family tiers are lighter, non-investigation experiences.
An exclusive after-dark takeover of Chillingham Castle — the real 12th-century stronghold billed as Britain’s most haunted.
Home to the Grey family since 1246 and featured on Most Haunted, Chillingham is famous for its dungeon and torture chamber. For three nights we hire the castle privately for a bigger, more produced experience than its standard tours — torch-lit tours of the castle and grounds, small-group investigations, and a candlelit supper in the Minstrels’ Hall.

- Family Twilight — an early, non-scary storytelling tour with a courtyard pumpkin trail and hot chocolate, before the main event.
- Standard Escape — the full torch-lit tour of the castle and grounds in guided groups of up to 20.
- Premium Vigil — everything in Standard, plus small-group investigations in the dungeon and torture chamber.
- VIP Witching Hour (31 October only) — the full experience extended into the small hours, strictly limited places.

Chillingham Castle, near Alnwick, Northumberland. Please allow extra travel time — the castle is rural, with limited public transport, uneven floors and steep spiral staircases.
Good to know
- Age policy varies by tier — check the ticket option you pick. Photo ID may be requested for age-restricted tiers.
- These are genuine historic buildings: expect cold, dark, uneven floors and, at some venues, steep stairs and limited step-free access.
- Bring a torch, warm layers and flat, sensible shoes.
- No physical contact takes place. Every vigil is guide-supervised and every activity is optional.
Before you visit
- Entry & timings: A welcome mulled cider or hot chocolate is served on arrival. No under-16s are admitted after 7:00pm; Premium and VIP tiers are 18+. Photo ID may be requested.
- Parking & getting there: Free on-site parking is available; the castle is rural (about 13 miles north of Alnwick) with no direct rail or bus, so a coach transfer add-on is recommended.
- Code of conduct: Premium and VIP tiers are strictly 18+, mirroring the castle’s own Ghost Hunt policy. This is a no-touch, guide-supervised event — please follow all host instructions. Anyone who is abusive or under the influence of alcohol or drugs may be refused entry or removed without a refund, and latecomers may not be admitted.

Which ticket should I choose?
Twilight for families and first-timers, Standard for the full after-dark tour, Premium if you want a small-group vigil with equipment, VIP for the extended late session on 31 October.
Can I change my date?
You can move to another available night up to 48 hours before, subject to availability on the night you move to. Get in touch and we will sort it.
Do I need any experience?
None at all. Guides run every session, explain the equipment, and stay with your group the whole time.
